Are you a fan of both pickles and macarons? If so, you're in luck! Oh La La! Macarons has picked up on the latest food trend and made it our own – in the shape of these adorable Gherkin Pickle macarons! These delightful treats look just like miniature pickles, but they're actually sweet and packed with our signature bespoke flavours.
Our pickle-shaped macarons are made using the traditional macaron recipe, which combines almond flour, powdered sugar, and egg whites to create a light and airy cookie shell – something all of our Hen Party participants will be dutifully knowledgeable about! However, instead of filling them with the usual fruit or chocolate buttercream, pickle-shaped macarons are filled with a dill and lemon flavoured buttercream that gives them their distinctive pickle taste.
To create the realistic pickle shapes and pay homage to the variety of shapes and sizes that pickles come in, our chefs hand pipe the shells to create a diverse range of shapes. We do always have to remember to make two of the same – so that each macaron is still perfectly balanced and matched!
In the decorating stage, our artisanal qualities really come to light. Creating depth and shadow using an shimmering green glitter, we first prime the shells with a little bit of glittery pizzazz! When it comes to icing, any pickle design is welcome – some are mini caricatures of illustrative sleeping gherkins, and others are more realistic interpretations of the iconic pickle texture! We believe that the mismatched nature of our Gherkin Pickle macarons are what makes them so endearing.

With a little practice and some patience, you can create these unique treats to impress your friends and family. Just be sure to have some extra dill pickles on hand to satisfy any cravings that may arise!
