Expectant Mum Hen Do

How to plan a hen do for an expectant mum

How to plan a hen do for an expectant mum

Planning a hen do is a mammoth task in itself, planning a hen do for a pregnant bride is a whole other kettle of fish.

First of all your typical hen do activities, mainly drinking and dancing until the wee small hours, are (normally) off the table, so you have to be creative and think outside of the box.

A hen do has to be fun, inclusive and special enough to make any bride feel like a queen, so just because she’s pregnant doesn’t mean her send off should be a lacklustre affair, cobbled together like the vegetarian option at a meat lover’s barbeque.

Fret not, here are 5 suggestions for how to plan a hen do for an expectant mum.

1. Afternoon tea.

If you haven’t indulged in an afternoon tea, where have you been? Fortnums or the Ritz, it doesn’t matter, what matters is that you have a never ending supply of cakes and sandwiches and she is made to feel like royalty.

2. Barbeque.

If afternoon tea is too formal for your gal, organise a relaxed barbecue. Invite her nearest and dearest, chuck everything you want torched on the flames and let the bride recline on her throne of choice with a never-ending, non-alcoholic tipple in her hand.

Why not spice things up and hire in a few butlers in the buff to get the party started? Just because the bride isn’t drinking doesn’t mean there can’t be male nudity.

In fact, I think it’s a requirement.

3. Hire a country cottage for the weekend.

No matter what stage of pregnancy she’s in, she’ll tire easily, it’s just what happens. So why not gather everyone she wants together and head off for a girls weekend in the country.

Plan gentle walks, a spa day, pub grub or you could even hire chefs to come and cater for you for the weekend. And when the evening draws in settle down in front of a roaring fire with some chick flicks. Just what any pregnant woman would love.

4. Have an afternoon with Oh La La!’s macaron masterclass.

We appreciate how difficult it can be to find an experience that caters for everyone’s tastes and leaves a smile on all their faces, but you’ve come to the right place with Ohlala macaron. For your pregnant bride to be we happily offer alcohol-free classes (these can be mocktail classes) or exclusively macaron classes.

Plus, not only do we delight in providing UNLIMITED macarons and martinis throughout your Oh La La! experience, but we’ve also had the pleasure of hosting events based around fun and flexibility for years, so you can relax in the knowledge that everything will be taken care of.

5. Spa day.

Why can’t this classic hen do activity not feature here? You could book her treatments from facials to massages, manicures and beyond. Most places offer a mother-to-be package, so why not book her that?

Essentially your options are limited only by your imagination. You know your friend so send her off in style and make sure you all enjoy yourselves, because that’s what it’s all about.
