The perfect places to take your BBF on a friendship date!

Save the Date… for your BFF!

Your best friend; you’ve been together through thick and thin, sharing triumphs and setbacks, tears and laughter…. so how come when you get together, you always end up in the local with warm lager and stale crisps? Here at Ohlala we’ve decided that he or she deserves better – and so do you, so, here’s our guide to fun things to do in London with your bestie that won’t cost an arm and a leg.

Betty Blythe

Channel the Great Gatsby

It’s cold and wet outside so head for Betty Blythe in leafy Shepherds Bush for an afternoon tea experience to remember. Kitsch and cute, relax in elegant surroundings whilst enjoying tea and cakes (for a little extra you can Gatsby up the experience with a cocktail). For added fun, staff provide a selection of 1920s accessories for you to wear during your stay, ensuring that your visit will be memorable, and ‘grammable!

Greenwich means great views

Take a river bus from Waterloo to Greenwich (you can even pay using your Oyster card for extra convenience) and walk up the hill (wear comfortable shoes, it’s really steep) to admire the fabulous views across London. Then, visit the markets and village-style tea-shops and pie and mash shops in Greenwich proper. Time your visit to see the red time ball on top of Flamsteed House at the Observatory drop at precisely 13.00pm.

But is it art?

Take a trip south of the river and pay a visit to the Tate Modern where you can wander round this old converted power station and eavesdrop on art appreciators enthusing over such artistic offerings as a crushed box of tea-bags and the shell of an old truck - and the best thing is that it’s free! Once you’re all cultured out, head up to the restaurant on Level 9 for great food, cocktails and panoramic views over the Thames.

Tate Modern

Chill with a movie

Take a trip to the Snow Kingdom, a land of ice caves and frozen lakes in London’s Borough district. After being transported across the frozen lake in this Backyard Cinema extravaganza, enjoy popcorn and winter warmer cocktails whilst watching classic films such as Pretty Woman and Cool Runnings within your very own winter wonderland.

Get your skates on

From the 17th November until early January, The Tower Of London will be transforming its famous dry moat into an ice rink for the public. Grab your BFF and hire some skates to enjoy skating underneath the stars at this fabulous attraction. In addition to the skating, snowflakes and lights will illuminate the fortress walls after dark and you can warm up afterwards with mulled wine, rum punch and warming comfort food from The Pie Man of Chelsea.

Tower of London

Lights and magic

Get into the Christmas mood at Syon Park’s Enchanted Woodland in Brentford. From 10th to 26th November, the park will be turned into a magical winter wonderland with an illuminated trail winding round the ornamental lake with a number of exciting light shows and illumination art. Warm up afterwards in the park’s Garden Kitchen Restaurant with mulled wine and BBQ to top off a breath-taking evening.

Why should couples have all the fun? London is full of fantastic things to do and things to see either alone, with a partner or with your very best friend.
